The mountain is logically an outlier on the south ridge of Lhotse Shar and enclosed by the giant Lhotse and Imja Glaciers. Easily accessible from Chhukung but note that the grassy slopes above here are prone to avalanche after heavy snowfall. Base camp is often at Pareshaya Gab 5075m. and high camp at about 5700m.The Island Peak/Imja-tse 6169m. summit ridge used to be quite straightforward, though there are various ice gendarmes and crevasses which are passed on the south side. The Island Peak/Imja-tse 6169m. summit has awe-inspiring views up Lhotse towering overhead.

Day 02: After breakfast,Katmandu by flight to Lukla (2830m) trek to Phakding (2630m)
Day 03: Phakding trek to Namche Bazaar (3480m)
Day 04: Namche Bazaar Rest or acclimatization day. During this day you can hike to Thame Monastery or Everest view hotel for superb Himalayan views including Everest,Lhotse,Nuptse,Amadablam, Thamserku, Kantega, Kusum khangaru,Khumbila,Tawache peak,Cholaste, Kongde etc.overnight at Namche Bazaar.
