Combining trekking and culture, this holiday captures the essence and mystique of the ancient kingdom of Bhutan, which lies secluded in the eastern Himalaya, enveloped in a web of unique and intriguing customs and deeply held beliefs.
The Druk Path is a wondefully scenic short trek, which connects the valleys of Paro and Thimpu, crossing a lake studded chain of mountains. In the often crystal clear days of autumn, it offers superb views of the Bhutan Himalaya, and also in spring, when the landscape turns to a blaze of colour with the blooming of the Rhododendrons. Trekking days average 4-5 hours, along quiet forest trails, which give way to pasture on the higher ridges, where yaks graze.

Before and after the trek, several days are devoted to visiting Bhutans key cultural sites, including the Kyichu Lhakhang, the tiny mountain kingdoms most revered Buddhist shrine and the Ta Dzong, once a fortified watchtower and now the national museum. We also explore Punakhas 17th century Dzong, the Wangdi valley and Thimpu, the capital, with its painting school and herbal medicine institute, where centuries old cures are still taught.

Fitness & Experience : The trek is suitable for first-time trekkers but though the trekking days are not too strenuous, altitude will slow you down.
