>> Everest Region
With its awesome scenery, Nepal's best known trekking region is justly popular. The appeal lies in the chance to get right in among the highest peaks in the world and visit the homelands of the Sherpa people. We offer the classic Base Camp and Kala Pattar trek, plus the option of an easy trekking peak, Pokalde. For more challenging trekking and climbing, the high valleys of Gokyo and summits of Mera, Island and Lobuje peaks are unsurpassed. For quieter trails, we recommend Dudh Kund and Numbur base camp, a moderate trek in the lower Everest region that also visits some of our project sites, with a warm welcome from the villagers.

  Everest Trek
Many people have dreamed of setting eyes on the highest mountain in the world. Following the spectacular achievements of early climbing expeditions, the 8848m mountain has lured recreational climbers to scale it and trekkers to gaze on its icy ramparts. In doing so, they have discovered the immense beauty of the Khumbu region as a whole, whose friendly, enterprising Sherpa people and their villages are steeped in Buddhist tradition.

The Gompa and Sherpa Trail to Khumbu
The Khumbu area is probably the most famous mountain region in Nepal, if not the world. Here, the Himalayan giants of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam tower over its valleys and to say the views are awe-inspiring is an understatement. This majestic place is the homeland of the Sherpas, a people of Tibetan origin, renowned for their extraordinary achievements in mountaineering.

  The Dudh Kund Trek
Dudh Kund is a sacred lake in an idyllic setting at the foot of Numbur Peak in the lower Everest region. Trekking to this remote and beautiful place is an excellent and varied alternative to the very popular Everest route. Exploring a region that is way off the beaten track and seen by few other outsiders, this moderate trek offers combines dramatic mountain scenery with the chance to meet with local communities, whose children have benefited from C.A.N.'s pioneering school projects.

  Gokyo Lake
